Curling irons and flat irons may become extremely dirty and hair product-coated. When they get dirty, they don't work as well on your hair, and removing them can be costly. No worries–you can clean your flat irons and curling irons in no time with just a few pantry things! It's a good idea to clean them if you find that curling or flattening your hair takes longer than normal.
Things You'll Need
* Baking soda
* Hydrogen peroxide
* Sponge
Step 1: Make a Cleaning Paste
- To make a thick paste, combine 2 tablespoons baking soda and 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide. Add a little more hydrogen peroxide if your paste is too thick. Simply add a little more baking soda if the paste is too runny.

- Step 2: Apply paste to the hot region.
- It's the flat part of a flat iron, and the whole curling rod for curling irons. Allow for a 5- to 10-minute rest period.
Warning
When your flat irons and curling irons are absolutely fine, you should clean them.
Step 3: Remove Build Up
Using a sponge, gently work the paste into the area.
Step 4: Wipe Away Residue
When your flat irons and curling irons are clean, they will work so much better!
